Effective. Professional. Experienced.

Zentner Planning and Ecology completed an open space management plan at Serpas Ranch.  The Ranch contains over 300 acres in Fairfield that was proposed for residential housing and permanent open space.  A restored creek ran through the center of the open space.  One of the primary challenges was to develop a grazing and fencing plan that would allow cattle grazing on both sides of the restored channel and riparian woodland but not in the restored areas themselves.  Cattle would also need access to the restored riparian and other upland areas occasionally.  The solution was innovative cattle crossings through a few stretches of the creeks and a flexible gating program. The open space plan also designated trails and management strategies in different habitats.  The homes, vegetation, cattle and restoration areas all continue to mesh well together in this unique habitat.
